Power ON - OFF mode switches the film from being clear (transparent) to frosted (opaque). When electrical supply is switched ON, the liquid crystal molecules align themselves and glass becomes instantly clear (see through).

When the power is OFF the liquid crystal molecules are randomly oriented scattering light and glass becomes frosted (private) and acts as an electronic blind providing privacy and security.
